Why the industry has it backwards

Resume writing became a game of keywords.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped writing for people. We started optimizing for algorithms. And in the process, we forgot the real point of a resume: to tell your story and open doors.

Seven questions it won't let you skip

Most AI tools for resume writing polish whatever you paste in, vague bits included. StoryCV listens for seven things: the problem, your ownership, the action, the scale, the result, who benefited, and any recognition. Leave one out and it asks.

The team behind StoryCV

Built by someone who's spent seven years watching smart people undersell themselves.

How it started

In 2019, Kavya built Resumey.Pro, a resume builder for people who like Markdown. Thousands of job seekers used it, and most of them got stuck in the same place: the words.

They'd done good work. They just couldn't say what it was. Ask "what did you do there?" and you'd get a job description back. Ask "what was broken before you arrived?" and suddenly there was a story.

So in July 2025, she built StoryCV to ask the second question.

    Head to write.story.cv. No card needed.

  2. Upload your resume

    StoryCV reads it and only asks about what's missing. (No resume? Start from scratch. You'll just answer a few more questions.)

  3. Name the role you want

    So the interview knows where to dig.

Is StoryCV an automatic CV writer?

Partly. The writing is automatic, but StoryCV won't write until it's interviewed you, because a CV built on vague input comes out vague. You bring the stories, it does the wording.

Can I use ChatGPT for resume writing instead?

You can, but ChatGPT rewrites whatever you give it, so thin input comes back as polished thin output. StoryCV interviews you first and won't write a bullet until it has the problem, the action and the result. It also remembers your answers for the next application.
